Distinctly Canadian
Renal Insight is designed specifically for nephrology in Canada, allowing nephrologists, nurses, technologists, allied health professionals and administrative staff to document, manage and report patient data.
Renal Insight enables documentation of patient demographics, progress notes, allergies, medications and orders, renal replacement therapies, vascular access, medical history, immunizations, laboratory data, medical imaging / consultation reports, transplant status and workup, education sessions, nutrition details.
Unlike monolithic, hospital wide systems that provide basic modules for each area of care, Renal Insight focuses specifically on Canadian Nephrology needs. This Canadian focus enables a greater depth of renal charting, while still providing integration into the hospital wide system. Renal Insight enables seamless sharing of medical information among members of the renal health care team, providing continuity of care across modalities, disciplines, and sites.
Medical Device
Renal Insight is a software system (electronic health record) registered as a Health Canada Class II Medical Device. As a Class II Medical Device manufacturer, we are certified to ISO 13485:2016 and MDSAP, to improve performance, mitigate risk, enhance efficiency and meet regulatory standards.
Bedside
Renal Insight can integrate with the Fresenius CorDiax 5008 Therapy System using the Integrated
Charting Hardware to facilitate point of care charting. The Bedside application has been developed
specifically for use on this hardware and includes a sub-set of Renal Insight features. These features are dedicated to efficiently documenting the current dialysis treatment. This enables care givers to spend more time interacting with the patient, allowing electronic charting at the moment in time.
Machine Connectivity
Renal Insight integrates with dialysis machines from various manufacturers to automatically collect relevant data during the treatment, without requiring input from staff. Caregivers are relieved of the task of transposing data and are simply required to document their acknowledgement within the patient chart.
Reporting
Renal Insight has unlimited potential to extract data using the built-in reporting tool or with third party tools that utilize a direct connection to the database. This provides greater flexibility for analyzing patient charts and for integration into a data warehouse or to submit data to research facilities (e.g. ICES) as well as for reporting to ministry level systems such as the Ontario Renal Network (ORN). The health care team can easily use these reporting tools to review patient outcomes, site utilization, respond to infection control questions, medication recalls, vaccination reports, etc.
Integration
Renal Insight has multiple standard HL7 interfaces to integrate seamlessly with existing hospital systems (e.g. Meditech, Cerner, Oacis, Epic, etc) to provide a consolidated patient chart. These interfaces enable the automatic flow of data to and from hospital systems. Our ADT interface keeps the patient demographics, account numbers and allergies current, the Lab interface enables lab data to be presented in NephroCare, which also enables the automatic calculation of a number of adequacy calculations such as: PCR, PRU, eGFR, KFRE, Kt/V, etc. We also have an outbound lab order interface and our PDF report interface that is designed to automatically send treatment summary reports to the hospital system.
